Trader Vic’s stirs it up with Dead Man’s Fingers at cocktails in the city

Maverick spiced rum brand Dead Man’s Fingers has partnered with one of the world’s oldest tiki bars and home of the original Mai Tai, Trader Vic’s, to serve up a new cocktail with a rebellious kick at the spring edition of Cocktails in the City, taking place between 4th and 6th April at The Vaults, Waterloo.

Available at Trader Vic’s’ pop-up bar, the signature serve, Carbis Bay Sunrise, is named after a well-known bay in St Ives, to celebrate Dead Man’s Fingers’ Cornish roots. The cocktail is made using the progressive brand’s Spiced Rum, together with Crabbie’s Ginger Wine, rhubarb syrup, fresh lime, a dash of Angostura, and a splash of Franklin & Son’s Rhubarb & Hibiscus Tonic.

Channelling its laid-back island vibes, the famed rum bar is also installing an eye-catching, tropical-themed photo wall at the event, designed to offer plenty of photo opportunities and encourage visitors to share their experience on social media. What’s more, consumers will have the chance to take an instant Polaroid photo of them enjoying a drink at the pop-up, which can then be exchanged for a free cocktail at the Mayfair-based bar.

Lucy Cottrell, Brand Manager for Dead Man’s Fingers, commented: “Cocktails in the City plays host to 25 of London’s finest bars, so we’re really proud to partner with Trader Vic’s, one of the most iconic tiki cocktail establishments in the world, to offer consumers a taste of both Cornwall and the Caribbean.

“The partnership is a great example of pushing category expectations, by bringing together a world-renowned, traditional rum bar, and an unconventional, challenger brand like Dead Man’s Fingers. Whilst Dead Man’s Fingers recognises that tiki bars are a crucial part of the rum scene, it also knows that satisfying consumer demand for an edgy, alternative craft rum brand with a new wave of authenticity is important for the development of the category and consumers preconceptions of rum.”

Steven Gilbert, General Manager at Trader Vic’s, added: “We’re so excited to bring our passion and craft for creating delicious tiki and tropical cocktails to the capital’s greatest cocktail event by using some exceptional liquids from the likes of Dead Man’s Fingers, Crabbie’s and Franklin & Son’s. We have our fingers crossed that the Carbis Bay Sunrise enjoys just a fraction of the Mai Tai’s popularity over the three days.”
