In a little over 30 years, what is now Halewood International Holdings PLC has grown from a start-up company to become the UK’s largest independent drinks manufacturer and distributor, with a turnover in excess of £270 million and employing more than 1,000 people worldwide. The business was founded in 1978 by the late John Halewood, whose entrepreneurial vision drove the business continually forward, and whose family are continuing in that tradition.
The Halewood International portfolio covers both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. Within alcoholic drinks the company produces a range that encompasses all the major categories, including Spirits, Beer, Wine, Cider, Ready-to-Drink and Fortified Wine.
The underlying philosophy of the business has always been one of ‘Creative Independence’.
Not only has the Halewood International Group become a leading force in UK drinks production, distribution and innovation but it also has strategic strengths internationally, especially in Romania, South Africa, and China. With partnerships developing internationally and worldwide annual sales exceeding 20 million cases.
The Halewood International Philosophy
Since the foundation of the company, the guiding principle has been to think big and work smart. Whilst we have never been afraid to learn from other successful companies, where appropriate, we fiercely retain our creative independence. We are determined to employ dynamic, flexible and innovative working practices that always keep us ahead of the game. We pride ourselves on our capability to make things happen quickly.
As the company has grown its domestic market, the international aspect of Halewood International has developed to the extent that we currently export to more than 40 countries around the world. We own businesses in Romania and South Africa, as well as having a joint venture in China. Additionally, strategic arrangements exist in Canada, the United States and Australia, with new partnership arrangements developing constantly.
Our Aims & Objectives
The aim of the business is simple: to grow through driving our key brands, strategic acquisitions and developing new brands that have high consumer and trade appeal. We aim to be the first ‘port of call’ for partners who may be looking to develop their own range of drinks where we can help with liquid development, design, marketing and manufacturing.
We want to maintain our position as the UK’s leading independent drinks producer and distributor, and expand our international footprint.
